Thomas J. Dwyer Sr. retired as a partner of the firm effective December 31, 2022, but he continues his affiliation with TJD in an of counsel capacity.

Thomas J. Dwyer Sr. founded the firm of Thomas J. Dwyer & Associates in 1993. Tom is an attorney and Certified Public Accountant; he received his undergraduate degree from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin and his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois.

Tom began his career in public accounting and worked as a Field Agent for the Internal Revenue Service in Chicago. Before starting his own firm, Tom was a Tax Partner at the Chicago CPA firm of Checkers, Simon & Rosner.

Tom has been a practicing CPA since 1977 and an attorney since 1981. His practice focuses on the preparation of tax returns, estate planning, tax planning, probate administration of estates and trusts, assisting with problematic IRS and Illinois Department of Revenue matters, creation of business entities, assisting with purchase and sale of businesses, and the drafting of various business agreements.

Tom has served on the boards of the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Foundation and St. Norbert College. He has also been active in his community, serving as a Trustee of River Forest Township from 1993 to 2002 and as the Chairman of the Board of Governors for the River Forest Community Center from 1986 to 1991. Tom is a member of the Union League Club of Chicago and Oak Park Country Club. He resides in River Forest, Illinois with his wife Martha. He enjoys spending time with his five children and ten grandchildren, golfing, and vacationing in northern Wisconsin.
