She started her career in the arts earning her undergraduate degree in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She spent almost 20 years at one corporation working her way up to managing a production art department and overseeing quality control to ensure accurate and compliant product labeling. While maintaining that position, she followed her interest in tax and enrolled in classes at Northwestern University to become an Enrolled Agent through the Internal Revenue Service Certificate Program. She found that she was able to apply her skills in quality review and compliance to her studies and during her time providing volunteer tax return preparation through the VITA program.
